Cowboys Finish Strong in Saladino

Gaither entered Wednesday night looking for a win against Durant in order to win their pool and advance in the Saladino Tournament.  They came out victorious 8-3 but unfortunately, three 7th inning runs by Durant eliminated the Cowboys from advancing due to a tiebreaker which went in the favor of Alonso.  Gaither’s offense was back to normal and applying pressure all night both at the plate and on the base paths tallying 12 hits and 6 stolen bases.  Even though the Cowboys put on a show with their bats,  the story of the night was Freshman RHP Austin Grause who took a shut out going into the top of the 7th.  Grause went 6 2/3 inning before Jr. LHP Javier Deyan was called on to get the final out and eventually leading the Cowboys to victory.  Gaither will have the rest of spring break off before they take on two tough district opponents in Leto (at home) and King (at King) next Tuesday and Thursday respectively.
